How does professional whitening work?
Teeth whitening with LED lamp
There is a first system that involves an in-office session using an LED lamp that activates a gel substance placed on the teeth. (In-office bleaching).
The patient is made to wear a cheek brace that pulls the lips apart and reveals the smile. The gums are completely sealed with a protective resin, and a hydrogen peroxide-based gel is then applied, which can be activated by an LED lamp that illuminates the entire smile.
The application of the gel is repeated for 4 cycles of approximately 8 minutes.
The result is immediately very evident, the teeth appear whiter and brighter.
The cost of this treatment varies from 250 to 300 euros.
Teeth whitening with masks
There is another method that allows you to apply the whitening product at home completely independently.
We build very thin, custom-fit transparent masks for the patient’s mouth.
These trays must be filled with the whitening gel and placed in the mouth for 45-60 minutes, the treatment must be repeated for 15-20 applications.
The whitening results are more progressive than those obtained with an in-office session, but they are also longer-lasting. The cost of this treatment ranges from €350 to €450.

The treatment we perform in our studio involves the combination of the two techniques
A session in the studio with an LED lamp and the continuation at home with personalized masks to be worn with a low-concentration hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide gel.
The combination of the two treatments ensures a more effective result in terms of white quality and brightness, and also makes the result stable for 5-6 years.
After this period, it is possible to revive the result by simply applying a few applications of gel to the trays, and the whiteness of the end of the treatment is regained.
However, using only one of the two procedures results in an effect that lasts on average 10-12 months and is not as brilliant.
It is obvious that the cost of the combined treatment will be higher due to the greater quantity of material used and the cost of making the customized aligners.
But in the end the result is unparalleled!

Does teeth whitening hurt?
There is a possibility that sensitivity to cold may occur, but this is a completely reversible effect, ending shortly after stopping treatment.
As for the effect on the teeth, these substances eliminate pigmentation but are not abrasive or harmful to the tooth structure.
What about over-the-counter products? Strips, toothpaste, pens?
These products remove surface stains from teeth, such as coffee, licorice, and smoke stains, but they cannot whiten the tooth’s internal structure like a well-performed professional whitening procedure.
