Many patients dream of a Hollywood-like smile with bright, white, and perfectly aligned teeth.
Today, this is possible and can be achieved very quickly, usually in two appointments, almost always without filing the teeth.
What are dental veneers?
Dental veneers are thin, semi-transparent ceramic sheets that can be permanently bonded to your teeth, improving their shape, color, and alignment.
The smile you’ve always wanted is within your reach today.
Are teeth getting damaged?
The ceramic we have available today can be worked with thicknesses of 0.3-0.5 mm so very often the veneers can be glued to the tooth enamel without filing it.
In fact, we almost always need to add tooth substance, as in the case of shortened, worn teeth, or teeth with chipped edges.

Is it painful?
Very often the procedure is performed completely without anesthesia, precisely because the teeth are hardly prepared at all.
Tooth enamel is very insensitive, being a highly mineralized tissue.
How do I know if I’ll like the result?
Today we can create a digital preview of the result and show it on video using digital smile design software.
Your smile will be scanned with an oral scanner, obtaining an optical impression that is a three-dimensional image of your teeth and gums.
With this software we can modify the shape, color, and size of the teeth and simulate their placement in the mouth as if we had virtual veneers to apply to the smile detected in the photo.
Once we are satisfied with the result, we create a removable lightweight resin mock-up that we try in the patient’s mouth, so we can make all the necessary assessments and make any corrections.
With this mock-up you can go home, keep it for a couple of days, evaluate it with the people you love and above all notice how much better it makes you feel!
How often do I have to come to the office to get dental veneers?
As soon as we decide, we will schedule two appointments: one to prepare your teeth and take precision impressions, after which we will apply temporary veneers that will allow you to have your teeth protected until the next appointment.
In the second appointment we will proceed with the bonding (adhesive cementation of the full ceramic).
How long do dental veneers last?
The duration of this treatment is considerable because ceramic is a resistant material
Furthermore, adhesive cementation on poorly prepared teeth with a lot of enamel is really effective.
La bellezza nel tempo può essere mantenuta a patto che ci si prenda cura del sorriso con una adeguata igiene dentale a casa , e con periodiche sedute di igiene professionale che possano garantire lucentezza e brillantezza delle faccette
If these parameters are respected, the veneers last (remaining beautiful) for at least 10 years

What if my teeth are very dark?
In this case, it may be necessary to prepare the enamel to allow us to obtain a wider and therefore more covering thickness of ceramic.
However, in these cases we usually first perform a complete professional whitening, in order to lighten the smile as much as possible.
In this way, we try to reduce tooth preparation to a minimum, and we choose to use more opaque and therefore more covering ceramics.
Dental veneers without filing the tooth: costs
A very determining factor for patients who choose this treatment is undoubtedly the cost.
The transformation of the smile and the general improvement of the face that can be achieved are remarkable, often with larger, whiter, more prominent teeth, even the lips appear plumper and the wrinkles between the nose and cheeks reduced.
For these reasons, the evaluation should be made thinking above all of the benefit that can be drawn from it: a finally beautiful smile that makes me feel more confident, more beautiful, rejuvenates me and makes me feel better about myself.
The price for making veneers depends on the number of teeth we want to cover, whether they are the six front teeth, from canine to canine (a very common case), if we want to extend them to the first premolar tooth, or if we need to make them only on the incisors.
Another factor concerns the need to combine it with a complete professional whitening treatment, which I usually recommend, because it makes the entire smile whiter overall and prepares for the creation of veneers on a more beautiful base.
Another variable factor may be the need to realign the teeth, almost always using clear aligners or invisible lingual orthodontics, to prepare for a treatment with a better result or which allows us not to file the teeth.
In any case, the cost of dental veneers varies between 700 and 2000 euros per tooth.

What are the risks of low-cost dental veneers?
If the only discriminating factor is price, it is easy to come across low-quality products, which then turn out to be aesthetically unsatisfactory, often with poor quality ceramic material that becomes porous, opaque, stains and tends to retain pigmentation.
Another problem often encountered with low-cost solutions is detachment, which occurs very frequently and leaves the underlying tooth at risk of decay, as well as causing significant aesthetic damage.
Often, veneers made of poor quality material fracture and need to be removed and redone.
Each remodel requires a new preparation of the tooth with its progressive deterioration.
When it comes to aesthetic creations, it’s always best to invest in quality!
